The cap is white, yellowing when touched. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.

The stem is white, bulbous, with a membranous ring.

The flesh is yellowing slightly; the odour is of aniseed; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are free, crowded . The spore print is purple brown. This species is saprophytic. It grows on the ground, on a rather calcareous soil.

The fruiting period takes place from June to December.
