The fruiting body is red-brown to dark brown, not banded, with a downy, russet-brown stem.

The flesh is brownish; the odour is mealy when cut, or of mould.

The fertile surface is made of light grey then pinkish brown spines. The spore print is brown.

It grows on the ground, in coniferous or broad-leaved woods, with spruce, pine, beech.

The fruiting period takes place from August to October.
Dimensions: width of fruiting body approximately 5 cm (between 2 and 7 cm)

Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet

Hydnellum cumulatum is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
