The Inkcap poisoning syndrome
incubation : short (from 20 mns to 2 hours after being ingested). The intoxication is aggravated when absorbed with alcohol.responsible compounds : derivatives of imadazol. It is believed the oxydation of alcohol is blocked and causes an accumulation of a toxic compound in the body (aldehyde).
signs of intoxication :
- drunkenness, memory loss, nervous excitement;
- reddening of face and chest, sweats;
- acceleration of heartbeat (dangerous for sensitive people), dizziness, nausea, ringing ears;
- cooling of extremities, sometimes stomach upsets.
The disorders may come unnoticed. The sensitivity to alcohol may last several days, sometimes more.
