The fruiting body is cup-shaped, tufted, split on one side, becoming wavy, with an olive brown to dark brown-red internal surface, the external surface being light brown.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on the ground, in woodlands of coniferous or deciduous trees, roadsides, with pine, oaks, spruce.

The fruiting period takes place from August to October.
Dimensions: width of fruiting body approximately 5 cm (between 1 and 8 cm)
  total height approximately 5 cm (between 3 and 6 cm)

Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet

Otidea bufonia is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
