The fruiting body is cup-shaped, sometimes laterally split, with a reddish-brown (with shades of violet) internal surface, the external surface being reddish-brown, without violet shades, slightly hairy.
The flesh is yielding a liquid when cut;
The fertile surface is smooth.
It grows on the ground, in woods, parks, gardens, on bare ground.
The fruiting period takes place from July to September.
