The fruiting body is sponge-shaped, or arranged in a dense tuft of cups, or brain-shaped, with a whitish internal surface, the external surface being pinkish, downy.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on the ground, mostly on burnt ground, fire places.

The fruiting period takes place from October to December.
Dimensions: width of fruiting body approximately 9 cm (between 3 and 15 cm)
  total height approximately 13 cm (between 0 and 25 cm)

Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet

Peziza proteana fo. sparassoides is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is rare, more generally speaking .
