The cap is brown to grey; its margin is striate, sometimes with veil remnants.
The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.
The flesh is unchanging; the odour is not distinctive;
its texture is fibrous.
The gills are free to adnate, crowded .
The spore print is very dark brown. This species is saprophytic.
It grows on the ground, on a rather rich soil.
The fruiting period takes place from June to November.
