The cap is dark red-brown. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.

The stem is red-brown with whitish fibrils, with a ring.

The flesh is unchanging; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are dark red brown, adnate . The spore print is rusty brown. This species is saprophytic. It grows on dead wood, in broad-leaved woods.

The fruiting period takes place from August to October.
Dimensions: width of cap approximately 5 cm (between 2 and 7 cm)
  height of stem approximately 4 cm (between 0 and 8 cm)
  thickness of stem (at largest section) approximately 3 mm (between 0 and 6 mm)

Distinctive features : downy because of the white fibrils of the veil (young); ring funnel-shaped, turned upward

Tubaria confragosa is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is very rare, more generally speaking .
