The cap is dark red-brown. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky. The stem is red-brown with whitish fibrils, with a ring. The flesh is unchanging; its texture is fibrous. The gills are dark red brown, adnate . The spore print is rusty brown. This species is saprophytic. It grows on dead wood, in broad-leaved woods. The fruiting period takes place from August to October.
