The cap is grey to brown-grey. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky. The stem is downy, bulbous, with a white to grey sheathing volva, without ring. The flesh is unchanging; the odour is faint, of pelargonium; its texture is fibrous. The gills are white, then pink, free, crowded . The spore print is pink. This species is saprophytic. It grows on dead wood or on the ground, in open woods, clearings, burnt places. The fruiting period takes place from July to November.
