The gastrointestinal medium poisoning syndrome
Incubation : short (less than 6 hours, generally between 15 minutes and 2 hours)signs of intoxication : symptoms resembling the gastrointestinal light poisoning syndrome , but with stronger effects:
- digestive disorders, epigastric cramps, diarrhea and vomiting that may lead to dehydration
- a few nervous disorders
Treatment : all comes back to normal spontaneously within 48 hours after ingestion.
Caution: do not confuse this benign intoxication with the deadly ones, which can also show gastrointestinal disorders, like the Amanita or Cortinarius poisonings. These latter poisonings absolutely require a treatment in a hospital as soon as possible. The time spent between the ingestion and the first signs of intoxication is crucial: passed 6 hours, imperatively consult a doctor.
