The on-site spotting being over, we can now take the mushroom back home, load the identification page in a web browser, and make the observations to answer the questions in the form, one by one, as they come.
Preliminary question : category of the mushroom
When the identification web page is loaded, several identification keys are proposed, as shown below:

At this stage, one has to identify the class the mushroom belongs to (mushrooms with gills, or tubes, or spines, etc.). This is very simple: just turn the mushroom upside down, and take a look at the surface underneath. In our example, one can clearly see that the mushroom to identify has no pores, no gills and no spines, nor probably a flat fertile surface. It only has a more or less globular shape which must contain the spores inside.

We will now select in the pages the choice which correspond to our situation. For the time being, it's only a matter of selecting the most adequate identification engine.
