The fruiting body is shaped like a branched shrub, with cylindrical branches, dirty yellow to ochre or flesh pink, without stem, but with a slender white trunk with mycelial strands at the base. the odour is faint sweet to unpleasant. The fertile surface is smooth. It grows on wood, on dead coniferous or deciduous wood. The fruiting period takes place from July to December.
