The fruiting body is cup shaped, regularly formed, with a bright red, smooth, shiny internal surface, the external surface being whitish, pink to orange, dull, hairy. The fertile surface is smooth. It grows on wood, on dead wood of broad-leaved trees, on plum trees, hazel, brambles. The fruiting period takes place from January to June.
Sarcoscypha coccinea is quite rare and localised in the forest of Rambouillet, and is infrequent, more generally speaking . | ||
