The fruiting body is cup shaped, regularly formed, with a bright red, smooth, shiny internal surface, the external surface being whitish, pink to orange, dull, hairy.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on wood, on dead wood of broad-leaved trees, on plum trees, hazel, brambles.

The fruiting period takes place from January to June.
Dimensions: width of fruiting body approximately 4 cm (between 1 and 15 cm)
  total height approximately 2 cm (between 1 and 3 cm)
