The fruiting body is cup-shaped or spherical and hollow, buried, possibly later opening into a star-shape, internal surface: cream. The fertile surface is smooth. It grows on the ground, on sandy grounds. The fruiting period takes place from April to December.
Sepultaria arenicola is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
